Exam board Eduqas has admitted there was an error in a French A-level exam taken by more than 800 students.
Students have taken to social media to complain that they were directed to find the answer to one question in a particular recorded extract.
But, in fact, they say, the required information was in another recording.
One described the paper as “messed up”.
And there were calls for Eduqas to respond quickly to concerns.
Edqas admitted an error had occurred in yesterday’s exam.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that there was an issue with the recording on yesterday’s examination and how it related to the rubric on one question, which may have impacted some students.
“We have contacted centres to inform them that a special consideration application can be made on behalf of those candidates. Our examiners and the awarding committee members will be made aware of the situation. Candidate responses will be considered carefully during the marking and awarding processes to ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged.”
Eduqas is part of the WJEC (formerly Welsh Joint Education Committee) board which offers the reformed GCSE and A levels in England.
